Expanding the in-store experience to remote locations
For Room & Board, building relationships with its customers matters the most. “What differentiates us is that we want to start that relationship by offering superior experiences wherever they are,” remarks Mark Rodrigue, Senior Network Engineer at Room & Board.
After the pandemic, when remote work and online shopping became the norm, Room & Board faced a new challenge. “Much of the experience we delivered was tailored to an in-store experience. That had to change to create meaningful experiences when customers interact virtually,” says Rodrigue.
Transitioning to this new model required overcoming multiple technology challenges. Room & Board trusted Cisco security solutions to make it happen.
Securing a multi-cloud environment
Room & Board’s design associates use mobile endpoints to interact with customers. For securing these endpoints, the company trusts Cisco Secure Endpoint, which consistently applies security policies to its Windows devices, Linux endpoints, and iPads.
Umbrella SIG domain name system (DNS) protection runs on Room & Board’s local DNS servers. “We layer on top of Secure Endpoint, the roaming client from Umbrella. That ensures DNS security and data loss prevention (DLP) are applied and all cloud proxy pieces are being provided,” comments Rodrigue.
Expanding customer base with cloud-native security
An integrated and robust cloud-native security architecture helped Room & Board expand its customer base, thanks to Cisco. “It opened up a way for us to create that experience by meeting new customers where they were, even in cities without a Room & Board showroom,” says Rodrigue.
With Cisco security technologies, Room & Board achieved higher levels of flexibility in all interactions, whether customers were in a store or virtual. “This flexibility and fast feature delivery time is another benefit of moving our security stack to the cloud,” adds Rodrigue.
