Umbrella’s global cloud architecture
Built on microservices using containers for efficiency, we own, actively manage, and tune our own equipment to ensure consistent high resilience and unmatched performance. Optimal usage of hybrid multi-cloud infrastructure maximizes resilience and minimizes traffic latency.
Additionally, we selectively use public cloud providers and build our services as multi-region for expanded scalability, enabling us to effectively see and manage the traffic for more than 100 million enterprise and consumer users daily.
Diverse data sets drive detection
Umbrella’s global cloud architecture sees and analyzes massive and diverse data sets. Umbrella gathers 620 billion internet requests daily across 190 countries at the moment a request is made. Our real-time DNS data is also enriched with diverse public and private data feeds. Umbrella’s global cloud footprint enables us to quickly uncover patterns that signal malicious behavior.
Umbrella blocks daily:
9 million command and control requests
32 million phishing attempts
100+ million malicious site access attempts
3+ million new domains daily
60,000+ new malicious destinations (domains, IPs, and URLs) daily
7+ million malicious domains and IPs actively enforced/blocked while at the same time delivering fast internet access
Meet the Team
There is no army of cybersecurity researchers big enough to manually identify every threat. We look at things differently. The Cisco Umbrella security researchers take mathematical concepts and find new ways to apply them to security data.
Our security researchers leverage advanced data mining techniques, machine learning and behavioral models, coupled with security domain expertise to identify threats and protect our customers.
Threat Hunters unite
Cisco Talos Intelligence Group is one of the largest commercial threat intelligence teams in the world, comprised of world-class researchers, analysts, and engineers.
These teams are supported by unrivaled visibility and sophisticated systems to create accurate, rapid, and actionable threat intelligence for Cisco customers, products, and services. Cisco Talos defends customers against known and emerging threats, discovers new vulnerabilities in common software, and interdicts threats in the wild before they can further harm the internet at large.
Cybersecurity Threat Landscape Report
The threat landscape continues a rapid evolution. Protection means scaling for threats in motion. Cyber defenders must leverage machine speed and predictive intelligence to be prepared.
