In 2020, the world changed, and so did international conglomerate Hitachi. The manufacturer underwent a total restructuring of how the company worked, going hybrid and unearthing a considerable new challenge: Authenticating and securing workers and devices when network boundaries were no longer clear.

Hitachi’s workers, while using personal phones and other devices to access the network, were now putting the company at risk by simply doing their jobs. And that opened the door for all sorts of attacks: malware, ransomware, and other damaging disasters.

Hitachi’s answer? Leveraging a Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) framework with cloud-based Duo Security to authenticate users and devices. It was the answer they needed, but here were the problems and questions asked first:
